DocuChat had to make advanced AI retrieval feel approachable for everyday teams. The product needed to support uploads, knowledge organization, and live conversations without overwhelming non-technical users.
I treated the interface as a bridge between AI capability and operational confidence, using structured layouts, predictable states, and careful hierarchy to keep complex flows legible.
Build process
Reduce AI workflow ambiguity
Separated the product into three mental zones: documents, conversations, and system state, so users always knew where they were working.
Make system feedback visible
Designed interface states for upload progress, indexing delays, and answer quality so the product stayed informative while background processes ran.
Support trust with evidence
Paired the conversational UI with structured source references to keep answers grounded and easier for teams to trust.
